Hm I'm working with a pretty old notebook and rarely experience problems like that. What I would recommend is using Flash 8 instead of the newer versions.
What version of Flash are you using?
I use Flash 8 and it's probably the most co-operative program I've ever used.
Boy do I know how you feel, the toon I'm working on now has done this long ago, multiple times. Try putting each new scene on a different file then download the "LibAppend" plugin from here ( <a href="http://www.toonmonkey.com/extensions.html">http://www.toonmonkey.com/extensions.
html</a> ) and use it to rename all your symbols so you can paste without library issues.

Flhas only crashes occasionally for me, usually because i try to open up a lot of stuff at once. maybe you should try re-installing it. it that doesn't work..... meh.
